DHAKA: Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed categorically said that there will be no price hike of essential goods in upcoming fasting month of Ramazan.
The minister made the assurance at a press conference at his office in city Monday noon.
‘There is no chance of increasing the prices of essential goods, including vetch, puffed-rice, onion and chili, in the month of Ramazan,’ he said.
Earlier, the minister had a discussion with the visiting India commerce secretary Rajeev Kher, who was also present at the press meet.
The visiting secretary told the media that they put emphasis on strengthening the existing friendly bilateral relations and ensuring the expansion of trade ties.
‘Neighboring India and Bangladesh are playing important roles in different international issues, not only in Asia, also other parts of the globe,’ Kher added.
