RAJSHAHI: South Korea has shown their interest to establish a car manufacturing factory in Rajshahi.
An 11-member South Korean team comprising representatives from three Korean car manufacturing factories is set to visit in Rajshahi on May 24.
The visiting team held a meeting with Ena Group officials at its Dhaka office earlier on May 23.
They team is keen to establish the factory in association with Ena Group at Sopuray Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) area in Rajshahi.
On the matter Ena Group deputy-managing director Dr Mosleh Uddin told banglanews that they will manufacture cars in Rajshahi as three South Korean car manufacturers Zinwa, BMG and KRW have shown their interests.
According to him, a delegation of Ena Group visited South Korea on March 26 and exchanged views with the companies.
Following the visit, a South Korean team will come to Rajshahi to see the factory area, he added.
He further said Ena Group chairman and also Rajshahi-4 constituency Member of Parliament Engineer Enamul Haque expressed his eagerness to establish the factory in his area.
The visiting team is scheduled to exchange views with local businesspeople and talk to the media on Sunday noon.
Ena Group managing director Tohura Haque told banglanews that the establishment of a car manufacturing factory will create job opportunity as well as play an important role in the development of country’s northern region.
