DHAKA: Country’s apex housing body Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) demanded the formation of a Tk 20,000 crore housing loan fund on Sunday.
A delegation of REHAB led by its president Alamgir Shamsul Alamin came up with the demand when they met finance minister AMA Muhith at the conference room of the ministry in city around 12:30pm.
At the meeting, the delegation placed a proposal on the issue of protecting country’s housing sector and submitted it to the minister there.
The housing body demanded loan opportunity with 7 to 9 percent interest rate to build flats smaller than 1,500 square feet in the adjacent areas of Dhaka city and in the municipality areas.
List of REHAB’s other demands include housing loan facilities in accordance with the buyers’ requirements, and inclusion of provision on investment opportunity of the undisclosed money in housing sector in the section No. 19BBB of income ordinance 1984.
