Nat’l fruit fair kicks off June 15

DHAKA: A three-day ‘National Fruit Fair’ will kick off in city on June 15 with the observance of a ‘fortnight program on fruit tree plantation’ across the country.

Slogan of this year’s fair and plantation program is ‘Din Badaler Bangladesh, Phal Brikkhe Bhorbe Desh’.

Different arrangements in the fair will include showcasing the various types of fruits and fruit trees, seminar on related subjects and facilities for farmers in selling fruits.

It was decided at a progress-observation meeting of the national fruit fair committee Wednesday morning at the conference room of agriculture ministry in city, with agriculture secretary Shyamal Kanti Ghosh in the chair.

Sunil Chandra Dhar, director of Horticulture Wing of the ministry’s Department of Agricultural Extension, one of the attendees of the meeting, confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Sunil said that the fair will begin through a colorful rally at 9:00am on June 15.

Jatiya Sansad speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will inaugurate the fair at Krishibid Institute auditorium in city’s Khamarbari area at 10:00am, he added.

Giasuddin Milki Auditorium premises of Khamarbari area will be the venue of the fruit fair, which will remain open from 7:00am to 9:00am till June 17.

Around 60 fruit producing firms will sell fresh fruits at the fair.
