DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith has declared that the Padma Bridge project, once completed, alone will enhance GDP by 0.56 percent annually accelerating economic activities in the backward south-western region of the country.
In budget speech, the finance minister said, “Considerable progress has been made in the construction of the long awaited Padma Bridge with domestic financing.
The massive work that has begun on the banks of the mighty Padma has infused a deep sense of exuberance and alacrity in the local masses. We expect to open the bridge for transportation by 2018, he added.
Later the minister again said, the present democratic Government has meantime started the mega project of constructing Padma Bridge with own finance dispelling all skepticism at home and abroad and the construction is running in full swing.
