DHAKA: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with top India conglomerates Reliance and Adani groups on Saturday.
It was signed at Bidyut Bhaban in city at 11:30am in the day.
Bangladesh Power Development Board secretary Zahurul Islam, Adani Power Limited chief executive officer (CEO) Vneet S Jaain and Reliance Power Limited vice president Swami K Gupta signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
According to the MoU, Adani Power Limited, a concern of Adani Group, will construct a 1,600 MW power plant at Moheshkhali.
On the other hand, Reliance Power Limited, a concern of Reliance Group, will construct a 3,000 MW power plant, based on Liquid Natural Gas (LNG).
However, location of the plant has not been finalized.
Bangladesh power, energy and mineral resources minister Nasrul Hamid, National Parliament standing committee on power Tajul Islam MP, Bangladesh power division secretary Monowar Islam, energy division secretary Abu Bakar Siddique, among others, were present at the MoU signing ceremony.
