Stocks end higher Wednesday

DHAKA: Investors witnessed gain in the benchmark indices of the country’s bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- on Wednesday.

The key index of DSEX, rose over 42.71 points only to stand at 4556.68 at the close on the fourth trading day of the week.

Trade deals stood at 117561 with volume of transactions at Tk 5218.80 million.

Of the issues traded, 199 advanced, 90 declined and 24 remained unchanged.

UNITEDAIR topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 177 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were GP, BEXIMCO, KPCL HEIDELBCEM, FAMILYTEX, SUMITPOWER, UPGDCL, ACIFORMULA and TRUSTBANK.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing up to 8499.51 by gaining over 40.54 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 131 gained, 80 declined and 29 remained unchanged.
