DHAKA: The 30th SAARC Finance Group Meeting and the SAARC Governors’ Symposium will kick off in city on Friday.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) governor Dr Atiur Rahman is expected to inaugurate the symposium at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel around 9:30am.
BB deputy governor SK Sur Chowdhury will deliver welcome speech at the event to be chaired by Nepal Rastra Bank governor Dr Chiranjibi.
Governors of the central banks of India, Pakistan, Iran and Bhutan will participate in the session while deputy governors of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar and Afghanistan central banks will represent their respective nations.
Besides, a good number of high-ups will also attend the symposium.
Bangladesh Bank general manager AFM Asaduzzman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said the participants will discuss about ‘how current international monetary policy cannot be a source of risk for both sustainable growth and financial sector’.
Different policies and strategies to tackle the risks of overall economic growth including financial sector will be focused in the meeting.
Moreover, the 44th Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors of Asian Clearing Union (ACU) will be held at Grand Ball Room of the hotel on Saturday morning, said AFM Asaduzzaman.
BB governor Dr Atiur Rahman, also the ACU chairman, will deliver welcome speech at the event.
The next chairman and vice-chairman for ACU will be selected and the venue for the 2016 board meeting will also be fixed in the meeting.
