Bangladesh-Malta ties to be stronger

DHAKA: Diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Malta will be stronger and deeper in the future.

The speakers came up with this assertion at a reception party in honor of the accredited High Commissioner of Malta for Bangladesh John Joseph Aquilina, UOM, at Lakeshore Hotel in city’s Gulshan area on June 16.

The reception party was attended by commerce minister Tofail Ahmed.

The newly appointed high commissioner John Aquilina said, “Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) will be held at the end of November in Malta”.

He hoped that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lead the government delegation to the CHOGM meeting.

Tofail Ahmed, welcoming the Malta high commissioner, said that the Bangladeshi business delegation will play a significant role in the CHOGM summit.

Malta consul and also FBCCI director M Shoeb Chowdhury said that the diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Malta will be more vibrant following the credential ceremony for John Joseph Aquilina.

Palestine ambassador and also dean of diplomatic corps Shaher Mohammad, Russian ambassador Alexander A Nikolaev, South Korean ambassador Lee Yun-Young and diplomats of different missions in Dhaka, among others, were present at the reception party.
