DHAKA: The government, not the Bangladesh Bank, will issue notes and coins up to Tk 5 denomination instead of Tk 2 from now on.

On Monday, cabinet gave the final nod to the draft of ‘The Bangladesh Coinage (Amendment) Bill -2015’ paving the way for the government to take over control on notes and coins of taka-five denomination.
After the meeting, cabinet secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan informed the matter to journalists.
