DHAKA: Terming Bangladesh a ‘transit’ nation, Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said that it was the country’s first ‘unanimous’ decision.
The minister made this assertion at ‘India-Bangladesh Business Carnival’, organized by Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) and Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in city on Saturday.
He said that during the meeting with India premier Dr Manmohan Singh, Bangladesh’s Dr Mashiur Rahman and Dr Gowher Rizvi talked about Bangladesh-India trade link involving neighboring Nepal and Bhutan.

Upholding the benefit of regional cooperation, he said that the trade link will benefit all afore mentioned nations.
Governments of Bangladesh and India will assist the businesspeople in enhancing investment in private sector, Muhith added.
The finance minister further said that a common market can be established in south Asia region.
Bangladesh Prime Minister’s economic affairs advisor Dr Mashiur Rahman and India high commissioner Pankaj Saran also spoke at the event, conducted by ICC director general Rajib Singh.
