DHAKA: A three-day Asian Tourism Fair kicked off at Bashundhara International Convention City (ICCB) in Dhaka on Thursday.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon inaugurated the event at Pushpaguchha hall of ICCB this noon.
Monthly magazine on tourism ‘Parjatan Bichitra’ organized the fourth edition of the fair in cooperation with Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC).
In his speech as chief guest, Rashed Khan Menon said Bangladesh has huge potentiality in its tourism industry. The industry has already created employment of tens of thousands people.
The fair will play an important role to inform about Asia top tourist spots, h also hoped.
With ‘Parjatan Bichitra’ editor Mohiuddin Helal in the chair, the inaugural function was also attended by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation chairman D Aparup Chowdhury, Ambassadors of Nepal, Philippines, Bhutan and China.
Parjatan Bichitra’ editor and also chief co-ordinator of fair, Mohiuddin Helal presented introductory speech at inaugural ceremony.
According to the organizers, the fair, which has a total of 120 stalls, will remain open from 10:00am to 9:00pm till August 29.
Tourism organizations from India, Nepal, Bhutan, China, Philippines, Uzbekistan and Singapore are expected to participate in the fair.
Entry fee of the fair is Tk 20 for each while it is free for students.
‘Parjatan Bichitra’ editor Mohiuddin Helal said that this year’s fair will display information about several important tourist spots both at home and abroad and offer special packages.
The participating organizations will also arrange booking for tours with attractive concessions.
