Banglalink launches WhatsApp in Bangla

DHAKA: For the first time in Bangladesh, Banglalink supported the launch of WhatsApp in Bangla.

A Banglaliink press release said on Tuesday.

Launching of this feature boasts a string of new options that WhatsApp in Bangla will come with, making the experience exciting for the users, the release added.

“Users can set up custom notification settings for specific chats and mute specific chats, also mark chats as unread or read and reply from message previews.”

They can also lower the data usage used during WhatsApp calls in Settings > Chats and Calls.

According to the release, some other features that are available in WhatsApp for Android include the ability to use WhatsApp without linking it to the sim card or phone number if the users wish.

Users can also share their location with friends and family using WhatsApp, on top of photos, videos, sound clips etc.

Additionally, users can restore deleted messages on WhatsApp, or check who and when their messages in the group read.

It is easy to hide profile photo and status, create custom notifications for every chat, mark chat as non-read or reply from message previews, it added.

“WhatsApp is now available in Bangla (on Android)! With the recently launched WhatsApp Calling feature, Banglalink subscribers’ users can now call their friends and family all over the world.” said Brian Acton, Co-Founder of WhatsApp.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Banglalink to enrich communications for the Bangladeshis,” he added.

Solaiman Alam, Marketing Sr. Director, from Banglalink said, “WhatsApp in Bangla will not only popularize the use of the app in Bangladesh but will also go a long way in mainstreaming the use of our beloved language and help more people communicate in the language that is closest to their heart.”
