DHAKA: Country’s maiden banking fair will be organized on November 24.
The five-day fair will remain open from 10:00am to 9:00pm till November 28 on Bangla Academy premises in city.
All the 56 banks, operating in the country, are expected to take part in the fair.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) chief economist Biru Paksha Paal disclosed the matter at a press briefing on Wednesday.
He said that non-banking financial institutions can also set up their stalls at the fairground.
The BB economist further said that the fair will be organized with the view to take the banking sector to the doorsteps of people with the help of advanced technology, to speed up financial inclusion and to include the youth with the sector.
He also sought cooperation from the media for this first ever banking fair in the country.
Biru Paksha said banking sector regulates around 40 percent of country’s GDP.
“The contribution to GDP can be increased if the existing incoordination in the sector can be mitigated,” he added.
