DHAKA: Bangladesh commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said that they have asked for duty-free access of all Bangladeshi products in Malaysia.
Moreover, the country also seeks more Malaysian investment here.
The minister made this assertion at the inaugural ceremony of ‘4th Showcase Malaysia-2015’ at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in city on Thursday morning.
According to him, only 19 Bangladeshi products out of 498 get duty-free access to Malaysia.
He further said that Malaysia exports products of 2 billions USD to Bangladesh while imports only 140 million USD.
Governments are working to sing free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries to reduce the trade gap, Tofail added.
The 3-day fair, organized by Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BMCCI), is showcasing the products of 22 Malaysian companies.
Malaysian high commissioner to Dhaka Norlin Binte Othman and Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Matlub Ahmad, among others, were present at the event.
