DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that 100 economic zones will gradually be established in the country aiming to enhance both domestic and foreign investment.
She made this disclosure at a Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority governing board meeting at PMO in city on Wednesday.
Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed, housing minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, civil aviation minister Rashed Khan Menon and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, among others, were present at the meeting.
PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed the journalists after the meeting.
According to Karim, the premier said that new spots have been identified to establish the economic zones to enhance both domestic and foreign investment.
Sheikh Hasina also put emphasis on power supply, modernizing transport system and environment conservation in establishing economic zones.
The PM also suggested monitoring global market, increase productions accordingly and meeting domestic demands, the press secretary added.
