DHAKA: The World Bank (WB)’s chief economist and senior vice-president Professor Kaushik Basu will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday (December 12).
Bangladesh Bank (BB) chief economist Dr. Biru Paksha Paul told the media Monday afternoon.
The visiting WB official will discuss about the international financial institution’s assistance regarding BB research on Bangladesh economic development, he said.
According to the BB official, Basu will meet with the representatives of export-oriented companies on December 13.
According to Paul, the WB chief economist will also attend a discussion on world economy, Bangladesh and regional cooperation, challenges and possibilities at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in city at 3:00pm on the day.
He will inaugurate an international conference at a city hotel on December 14 and visit several projects on the following day.
Kaushik Basu is scheduled to leave Dhaka in the morning on December 16.
