AGARTALA: The Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) completed a test charging in the transmission line in Agartala in a bid to kick start the smooth supply of power to Bangladesh on the latter’s historic Bijoy Dibosh (Victory Day).
It was however unable to transmit the power toward Bangladesh at the moment.
Recently a high-level meeting took place in Agartala between the representatives of Bangladesh and India and decided to export electricity to Bangladesh.
However, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) rapidly constructed power line in India part.
After examination, 400 KV double circuit power line between Surjamoninagar of Tripura and Comilla of Bangladesh was charged around 4:30pm Wednesday.
PGCIL Tripura project general manager M Hazarika, assistant general manager MSK Singh, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited assistant general manager R Debbarma and other members from India part were present at Surjamaninagar Grid Sub-Station.
The power line from Surjamaninagar of Tripura to Koiyadepa near Bangladesh border was charged on the day.
PGCIL informed the media that they could not transmit power from Tripura to Bangladesh as construction work of power line in Bangladesh side has yet to be finished.
According to the officials concerned, if the construction work in Bangladesh side is complete by Thursday (17th December), they will be able to arrange a successful trial of power charge of the line.
