DHAKA: Bangladesh will be able to export shrimp and other frozen foods to the European Union without separate health certificate.
As the European Parliament has eased the rules of importing shrimps from Bangladesh at the beginning of this month, there is no barrier to entry the goods to the EU markets.
According to sources concerned, Bangladesh is only country, which has received the standard test certificate from the EU. Through this, Bangladeshi exporters got new market in the world to export the shrimp.
Earlier, the EU found presence of substances in the frozen fishes imported from Bangladesh that danger to human health.
Following that, the European Commission (EC) imposed safeguards on import of every shrimp consignment from Bangladesh on July 24, 2008.
Regarding the matter, a senior officer of foreign ministry told banglanews that there is no longer to attach of analytical test reports with the shrimp consignments. The EU had recently informed the Bangladesh government about their decision.
