DHAKA: Housing and public works minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain commented that the investment in housing sector can reduce the laundering of black money.

He made this comment while inaugurating a five-day Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) Fair 2015 at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre (BICC) in city on Wednesday.

After inaugurating the fair in the morning, Mosharraf Hossain asked not to question about the black money if it was invested in country’s housing sector.

He further said, “We have seen before black money being invested in the sector and none raised question about it”.

According to the minister, the opportunity of investing black or undeclared money in the housing sector would reduce the tendency of siphoning off.

He also urged the PM and finance minister to take steps in this regard.

The fair that has started on Wednesday (23rd December) will remain open till December 27.

REHAB president Alamgir Shamsul Alamin chaired the inaugural ceremony.
