DHAKA: Country’s electronics giant ‘Walton’ is setting up an eye-catching and exceptional premier pavilion in the eminent 21st Dhaka International Trade Fair-2016 to attract the visitors and customers.
The local brand is conducting the construction works of the pavilion greatly emphasizing the safety issues of the visitors and customers. The architectural design of the pavilion was prepared conforming to the company’s ‘sky high’ theme—reaching the premier position in the world electronics market.
Like every year, the month-long DITF-2016 is scheduled to begin at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on January 1. As only few days have left to start the fair, the last moment’s construction works of the Walton pavilion is going on in full swing.
Emphasizing the safety issues, Walton is using high quality steel made beam, frame, Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) board, glass as well as other fire and safety equipments. Considering the environmental issue, it is also following the ‘green-building’ method during setting up the pavilion.
The Walton authorities said they are establishing an attractive 3-storey pavilion at the DITF-16. In the front side of the pavilion, a glass made tower, named as sky high, is being built to reflect the company’s desire to be the premier global brand in the electronic industry.
Walton has two sales and display centers at this year’s fair. One is premier pavilion (number-23) and the other is stall (number-31A&B). The premier is being established in the south side of Bangabandhu Pavilion and the east side of the fountain nearest to the main entrance gate of the fair.
Walton brand refrigerators, fridges, LED televisions, switch, socket, rechargeable battery, LED bulb, generator and other home and electrical appliances will be displayed on the ground floor of the pavilion while mobile phone and air conditioner will be showcased on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor of the pavilion will be used as store room. A high power lift will be available at the pavilion to ease the movement of goods and visitors.
Considering the safety issue, the entire pavilion is being built on steel pillar. Fire resistant ACP board, glass and steel frame are being used in the interior decoration of the pavilion. A good number of fire extinguishers will be available at the pavilion. In addition, the entrance and the exit doors of the pavilion will be 14-feet width each so that many visitors and customers can pass through the gate at a time. A 7-feet width stair was built inside the pavilion to go from ground floor to first floor.
Architect Rina Chowdhury, senior deputy director (interior design) of Walton Group, said three issues are taken into consideration during the architectural design of the pavilion. Firstly, the design is made conforming to the Walton’s vision. Secondly, attractive pavilion and thirdly ensuring safety.
The 90 percent construction materials of the pavilion are reusable, she said adding: the used ACP board and steel would be fire resistant up to at least 90 minutes.
Md Humayun Kabir, executive director (PR and Media) of Walton Group, said it is a very challenging task to set up a durable pavilion within a short time. The most difficult task was setting up the glass made ‘sky high’ tower.
