DHAKA: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith put emphasis on need for creating human resources and posses of the technology to extract coastal resources and optimum utilization of those.
‘We are still lagging behind in this sector. It is highly needed to create human resource and posses of technology to explore the resources, the minister said.
He has made this assertion while addressing the inaugural session of the conference titling “The Coastal and Marine Environment of Bangladesh” in city’s Khamarbari area on Friday (January 8).
The conference has been organized by Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon (BaPA) and Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN).
The minister further said, ‘Not only scientists but businessmen should be taken to the coastal area. The experience of the neighboring countries should be used to work’.
Chairman of the preparatory comity of the conference Dr. Firoz Ahmed, global coordinator of BaPa and the BEN vice president Nazrul Islam addressed the event, with BaPa president Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed in the chair.
In the two-day conference, researchers from home and abroad are to present 82 research papers.
