DHAKA: International Finance Corporation (IFC) as part of the activities under South Asia Regional Corporate Governance Project, in partnership with Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI), organized a two-day workshop on Sunday (January 17).
The workshop titled ‘Managing Disputes and Difficult Conversations on the Board’ was held in Dhaka from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on the day.
International practitioners in conflict management and resolution from the UK Center for Effective Dispute Resolution (CeDR) and IFC CG officers attended the workshop.
This highly interactive two-day course for board directors was created by the IFC’s Corporate Governance (CG) Group in partnership with CeDR.
It is designed to help directors understand board conflict and conflict styles, and it covers difficult scenarios that directors often encounter.
The course offered guidance and practical tips for how to have a difficult conversation; for handling avoidance, high emotions, and status issues; and for breaking through deadlock – and how to apply these skills specifically in a board context.
A group of 24 directors and board members from the private sector of Bangladesh were present at the event.
