Stocks end week negative

DHAKA: Investors witnessed minor fall in benchmark indices of the country’s bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- on Thursday, the last trading day of the week.

DSEX, the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, shed over 11.56 points only to stand at 4657.94 at the close of day’s trading.

Trade deals stood at 118773 with volume of transactions at Tk 4186.76 million.

Of the issues traded, 100 advanced, 184 declined and 42 remained unchanged.

UPGDCL topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 134.95 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were ITC, ALLTEX, BXPHARMA, EMERALDOIL, SQURPHARMA, UNITEDAIR, DACCADYE, BDTHAI and CITYBANK.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 8654.39 by dropping over 20.43 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 66 gained, 146 declined and 33 remained unchanged.
