DHAKA: Sea Pearl Group, an organization of hoteliers, has started building the first five-star hotel styled Sea Pearl Beach Resort and SPA on Cox’s Bazar beach of the Bay of Bengal in conjunction with Interval International.
“We have taken a good initiative and this will enrich the tourism sector in Bangladesh,” said Alwyn Dixon, sales director of the hotel, being built at Inanai Beach.
Addressing a press conference organized by the group at Sonargaon Pan Pacific Hotel in the city Saturday, he said the hotel located on a total of 70 acres of land is being built at a cost of Tk 143 crore.
The construction work started in January this year and would be completed by 2012.
Terming the resort a landmark in the history of the tourism sector of Bangladesh, he also informed that all sorts of facilities would be in place at the seafront hotel, including a large swimming pool near the beach and an infinity pool at the lobby level. “The hotel will be of international standards,” he said.
Alwyn Dixon said there will also remain the facilities of 3D cinema, clubhouse, health club, jacuzzi, restaurants, featuring oriental seafood, Indian and Continental cuisines, tennis and water skiing.
He said, “The resort is being built eco-friendly by standards embodying the principles of ‘recycle, renew, reuse, reduce and rethink.”
Atowar Hossain, Vice President and John Sines, manager, sales, of the resort also attended the press met.
