Awami League leaders held a meeting with a delegation of teachers who are on strike, demanding the withdrawal of the new pension scheme.
The meeting between AL began around 11:30 am on Saturday at Awami League's Dhanmondi office in the capital.
A delegation of at least 10 teachers went to the Awami League office for the meeting.
Among the Awami League leaders, general secretary Obaidul Quader, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Prime Minister's Education and Cultural Adviser Kamal Abdul Nasser Chowdhury, State Minister for Education Shamsun Nahar, Awami League Office Secretary Biplab Barua are present.
Among the leaders from teachers, Dhaka University Teachers' Association president Prof Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, general secretary Dr. Zeenat Huda, University Teachers' Association Federation President Prof Akhtarul Islam. Leader of DU Teachers' Association Prof AJM Shafiul Al Bhuiyan, Prof Abdur Rahim, BUET Teachers' Association president Mizanur Rahman.
Teachers, officials and employees of public universities across the country have been observing the all-out work abstention since July 1 demanding the withdrawal of new pension scheme, offering super grade in teachers' salaries and announcing a separate pay structure for them.
