The casualty from dengue keeps rising as a total of eight people died and 994 new cases were reported from different parts of the country in the last 24 hours till Saturday (November 16) morning.
Of the deaths, five were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), two in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and one in Chattogram division.
Among the patients, 238 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka division, 236 under the DNCC, and 148 under the DSCC.
A total of 78,595 dengue cases have been reported since January 1 this year.
Last year, 1,705 people lost their lives due to dengue, making it the deadliest year on record.
The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 3, 18,749 recoveries last year.
