The government has reappointed Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam as director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under a two-year contract as his tenure to end this December.
Khurshid was scheduled to go on post-retirement leave (PRL) from January next year.
The Ministry of Public Administration in a notification on Thursday said that he had been contractually appointed for two more years on condition of suspending his PRL and retirement benefit.
Khurshid Alam was appointed as the DG of the DGHS on July 23 following the resignation of his predecessor Abul Kalam Azad in the face of a series of scams related to Covid-19 tests.
Prior to joining at DGHS, Khurshid Alam was serving as a professor at the surgery department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
