The government has finally approved the rapid antibody test for Covid-19.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque announced the development at a press briefing in Secretariat on Sunday.
"Permission for the antibody testing was being demanded for long. It has been approved and will start now,” he told reporters.
The procedure will be used to determine if a person has the antibodies created in them to fight the virus.
According to CDC website, an antibody test looks for the presence of antibodies, which are specific proteins made in response to infections. Antibodies are typically detected in the blood of people who are tested after infection; they show an immune response to the infection. Antibody test results are especially important for detecting previous infections in people who had few or no symptoms.
