Bangladesh today confirmed 18 deaths from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 8,738.
According to the Health authorities, 3,554 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 577,241. This is the highest in a single day since July 2, 2020, almost 8 months ago when the country saw 4,019 cases.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the update of the country’s coronavirus situation issuing a press release this afternoon.
In the last 24 hours, 1,835 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 525,994 with 91.12 percent recovery rate, the release added.
Meanwhile, 25,954 samples were tested in 219 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 44,60,184 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The rate of infection also rises significantly as 13.69% of the tested population came out positive.
Bangladesh reported its first Coronavirus case on March 8 in last year while first death on March 18 in that year.
