Bangladesh on Sunday (June 27) recorded the highest single-day fatality from COVID-19, according to the official figures.
The South Asian country of 165 million recorded 119 deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours, the daily record since the first reported death on March 18 last year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
With this, the number of total fatalities reached 14,172.
Besides, 5,268 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 8,88,406.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the update of the country’s coronavirus situation issuing a press release this afternoon.
Bangladesh reported its first Coronavirus case on March 8 in last year while first death on March 18 in that year.
