India reports 41,506 daily new Covid cases, 895 deaths [photo collected]

India on Sunday reported 41,506 daily new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, pushing the country's total tally to 30,837,222, according to data from the Union health ministry at 9am. 

The daily count of cases has been staying above 40,000 for the last five days. On July 5 and July 6, the country witnessed 39,796 and 34,703 new cases, respectively.

The death toll has climbed to 4,08,040 with 895 fresh fatalities added in the last 24 hours.

The recovery rate stands at 92.70%. In the last 24 hours, a total of 41,526 patients were discharged. The active caseload has further declined to 45,4118, constituting 1.47% of total cases, according to health ministry.

Daily positivity rate stands at 2.25%, which is less than 3% for 20 consecutive days. On the other hand, the weekly positive rate is at 2.32%.

A total of 18,43,500 samples samples were tested yesterday for detection of Covid-19. So far, the country has tested over 43.08 crore samples, as per Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

So far the country has administered over 37.60 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses under its nationwide program. Of this, 37. 23 lakh doses were administered yesterday.

India's Covid-19 tally crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. 

It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one crore mark on December 19. 

India crossed the grim milestone of two crore cases on May 4 and three crore cases on June 23.
