India's daily Covid graph showed improvement today as the country logged 14,313 fresh cases. During the same period, 549 virus-related fatalities were recorded. Active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases.

Kerala added 7,772 fresh cases, pushing the caseload to 49,44,857, while the number of deaths rose to 31,156 with 471 more deaths. Of the 471 deaths, 86 were reported on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has extended Covid-19 containment measures across the country till November 30 to prevent any further spread of the pandemic. 

In an official communication to all states/UTs, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said that existing protocols for curbing the spread of Covid-19 will continue till November 30. States like West Bengal, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh have been witnessing a surge in fresh Coronavirus infections after festivals. 

In the week after Durga Puja, these three states reported up to a 40% spike in new cases. The emergence of the new Delta ‘sub variant’ is also posing threat.
