A total of 23 lakh people, aged one year and above, will receive two shots of oral cholera vaccines in Dhaka city, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Dr Nazmul Islam, spokesperson of the DGHS, came up with the announcement during a virtual briefing on Wednesday (April 13).
In the first phase, the vaccination program will be conducted in five areas of Dhaka--Jatrabari, Dakshinkhan, Mirpur, Mohammadpur and Sabujbagh.
The vaccine will not be given to pregnant women, Nazmul Islam said, adding that the campaign to give the first dose of the vaccine will be held in May while the second dose will be given in June.
