Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) carried out free surgery on 54 needy patients at its modern operation theater on Thursday.
BEHRI Prof Dr Moutushi Islam and Dr Rubina Akhter took part in the operations at the BEHRI at Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Thursday.
Some 53 patients underwent small incision cataract surgery (SICS) and one received Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery. The patients – 31 men and 23 women -- had been suffering from severe cataract problems.
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute, Vision Care Foundation and Rotary Club of Baridhara Sunrise organised the free eye camp.
BEHRI Manager Mohammad Ahsan Habib said this initiative has been taken to provide eye treatment to the poor and cataract patients.
“Around 1,350 patients already received free surgery through this free eye camp across the country,” he said.
Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute started treatment services in April 2014 through modern medical equipment and investigations while more tertiary eye treatments are now being given here by using modern operation theater.
