The government is set to start COVID-19 vaccination of children aged between five and 11 on August 11 on an experimental basis.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malik said formal vaccination of the children will begin in the last week of this month after successful completion of experimental inoculation.
He was addressing a programme marking Breastfeeding Week at National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM) in the capital on Sunday.
The minister said, “We currently have about 3 million doses of vaccine for children. With these, we can vaccinate 1.5 million children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. More vaccines will be introduced for children later”.
