A motorcycle collision in Shyamnagar of Satkhira has claimed life of a 70-year-old man named Md. Badruzzaman, while another youth, Mir Jubayer (19), has sustained injuries.
The accident occurred on Friday (Oct 25) around 11:30 AM, near the Khanpur Ansar camp along the Kaliganj-Shyamnagar highway.
The deceased, Badruzzaman, was the son of Khalilur Rahman from Raypur village in Kaliganj. The injured, Mir Jubayer, is the son of Nurul Alam from Jhorukhama village in the same area and operates a garment shop in Nakipur Bazaar, Shyamnagar.
According to local witnesses, Jubayer was returning home after closing his shop when he collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction near the Khanpur Ansar camp. Both riders suffered severe injuries and were taken to Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors pronounced Badruzzaman dead upon arrival. Jubayer was later referred to Satkhira Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
Dr. Shakir Hossain, on duty at the Shyamnagar Health Complex, stated that one person died en route to the hospital, while the other’s condition is critical, requiring transfer to a specialized facility.
Fakir Taijur Rahman, the police inspector (investigation) of Shyamnagar police station, confirmed the incident.
