Bangabhaban fortified with security, no protesters seen today

Following recent protests in front of Bangabhaban demanding the resignation of President Md. Shahabuddin, security around the area has been beefed up.

Despite continuous demonstrations over the past three days, no protesters were seen on the fourth day.

On Friday (Oct 25), a large number of army personnel, police, RAB, APBn, and BGB were stationed at Bangabhaban, with reinforced security measures in place. Roads leading to Bangabhaban were blocked with barbed wire, metal barricades, and concrete dividers, fully restricting entry through the main roads.

A senior police official, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Banglanews that security has been heightened based on intelligence reports to prevent any untoward incidents.

The protests began on Tuesday, when students and general citizens gathered on the road outside Bangabhaban, rallying under banners of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Inqilab Mancha, and Gana Adhikar Parishad. Protesters from various backgrounds gathered to express their discontent.

On that day, tensions rose as protesters broke through police barricades in an attempt to enter Bangabhaban.
In response, police used sound grenades to manage the situation, resulting in injuries to five people, including journalists and students. Army personnel then intervened to control the crowd.

Later that night, a group of protesters attacked a police team, leaving at least 40 people, including 25 police officers, injured.
