A youth died after being electrocuted while handling an electric motor in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali on Wednesday (Dec 25).

Jahed Hossain, 35, died around 11:30 am. 

The incident occurred at Yusuf Ali's residence in Ward 1 of Char Clark union.

Jahed, son of Md Hanif Mia of the same village, had borrowed the motor from his neighbor Yusuf Ali a few days ago after his own motor became defective. While removing an electric wire from the motor to water his field, he accidentally came into contact with electricity and died on the spot.

Char Jabbar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahin Mia confirmed the matter.

The body was handed over to the family as no complaint was filed, the officer added.
