Bangabandhu killing pushed the country towards opposite direction

Bangladesh is unlike other countries in terms of August. As per Gregorian calendar, the month brings a different message to other countries. But in Bangladesh, it is symbol of mourning.

On the 15th of this month, a section of disgruntled army officials and traitors assassinated architect of independent Bangladesh and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Nobel laureate Willy Brandt of West Germany rightly said Bengalis can no more be trusted as they killed Bangabandhu. The people who killed Bangabandu can commit any other crimes. Father of the Nation sacrificed his personal life in the interest of Bengalis. He preferred emancipation of the countrymen to happiness of his own family members. He languished in jail most of the time.
However, after demise of Bangabandhu, the country started to walk in the opposite direction.

Killings of four national leaders in Dhaka central jail were followed by killing of Bangabandhu.

An interest group patronised by military ruler Ziaur Rahman turned highbred politicians overnight. Number of dedicated politicians declined. “Money is no problem” was the slogan for making hybrid politicians in the country.

The country saw mushroom growth of corrupt neo-rich people. So, retired military officials, journalists, lawyers and bureaucrats were enrolled into politics without any political background. They abused the politics as money machine. They not only misused the politics but also tarnished image of their professions. A section of juniors were encouraged by the corrupt seniors to join politics or serve purpose of politics for achieving personal gain out of the box. This is how teachers, journalists and people of noble jobs were victims to political pollutions.
