DHAKA: At least five activists of Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, sustained bullet injuries in a clash with police in city’s Badda and Mohakhali area on Sunday morning, the first day of 84-hour hartal.
Witnesses said Shibir activists brought out a sudden procession and hurled cocktails aiming police at around 7:30am. In retaliation, police fired rubber bullets on the protesters to disperse them, leaving five Shibir men injured.
On the other hand, in support of hartal Metropolitan North unit of Shibir brought out a procession and blasted cocktails in Badda Progati Sarani area of the city at around 7:30am.
Patrol police of Badda area Billal Hossain told banglanews, “None was held or injured in the incident.”
