CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court Monday issued arrest warrant against Mufti Izaharul Islam, Hefajat-e-Islam’s senior nayeb-e-amir and also president of a faction of Islami Oikya Jote for submitting wealth statement.

Chittagong Session Court judge SM Mujibur Rahman passed the order as Izajul Islam was absconding instead of responding the notice of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC special PP Advocate Mejbahuddin told banglanews that Mufti Izajul was in a bail from the High Court. The court issued arrest warrant against him as he did not appear before the court on the date. 

Earlier on April 21, Chittagong divisional headquarters deputy-director HM Aktaruzzaman filed a complaint against him at Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

HM Aktaruzzaman told banglanews that they had information about Mufti Izhar’s huge amount of undisclosed wealth.
