GAIBANDHA: Bangladesh Jammat-e-Islami called half-day hartal in the district Sadar for Wednesday protesting the arrest of newly-elected upazila chairman Abdul Karim, also district Jammat Secretary.

Confirming the matter on Tuesday, party’s district unit organizational secretary Maulana Nazrul Islam told banglanews that the shutdown would be observed from 6:00am to 12:00pm noon.

Earlier in the day, police arrested Abdul Karim, who took oath as upazila chairman on Tuesday, while returning home after taking charge from acting chairman in the morning.
