DHAKA: A Dhaka Court deferred the charge hearing against BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed till July 31 in the case for tax evasion.

Dhaka-2 special Judge Court justice Hosneara Begum passed the deferment order in response to a time petition after the hearing.

Moudud’s lawyer Tahirul Islam Tauhid moved the case.

Earlier, the charge hearing was scheduled to be held on Wednesday. But Moudud sought time to the court instead of appearing before it.

On January, 2012, Deputy Tax Commissioner of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Shah Muhammad Itteda Hasan filed the case for tax evasion of Tk seven crore.

Following the case, Moudud got two month anticipatory bail on January 16, 2012.
