FARIDPUR: A female activist was killed and 20 others injured in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League in Majhardia village under Saltha Upazila of the district Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Kuti Khatun, wife of Late Kala Mia of the village.

Locals said that there was a long standing dispute between local union AL president Azizul Haque and organizing secretary Selim Molla over establishing supremacy in the area.

On Thursday morning, their supporters locked into a clash with lethal weapons, leaving one dead and 20 injured.

Both groups vandalized and looted over 20 houses during the clash.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge of Saltha Thana Tota Miza said that on information police rushed to the village and took the situation under control.
