JHENAIDAH: The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by Sramik Oikkya Parishad, is underway in the district on Tuesday.

The organization called the hartal protesting killing of general secretary of district Bus-Minibus Workers’ Union.

President of the Oikkya Parishad Habibur Rahman made the hartal announcement after an emergency meeting at 12:00pm on Monday.

All types of bus services remained stopped in various routes of the district, even no easy bikes were seen plying on roads during the first hour of hartal.

Besides, setting fire in various roads of the town workers blocked roads.

Additional law enforcers were deployed in various spots to avoid untoward situation.

Earlier on Monday, Abdul Gaffar Biswas, 43, general secretary of Jhenaidah Bus-Minibus Workers Union, was chopped to death by miscreants in Arappur area of the town.
