BARISAL: Police arrested Barisal metropolitan unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Advocate Moazzem Hossain Helal from Brown compound area of the town Tuesday midnight.

A team of Kotwali Model Thana police conducted raid Helal’s house at 11:45pm. Sensing their presence, Helal took shelter his neighbors’ house. Later, police arrested him while trying to flee the area.

Regarding the matter, Kotwali thana officer-in-charge Shakawat Hossain told banglanews that he had planned to conduct subversive acts to make Jamaat nationwide protest programme a success. Besides, he was accused in many cases.

But he was not appeared before court in several cases. So, he has been arrested, the OC added.
