DHAKA: Health minister Mohammad Nasim on Friday said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia herself made her party’s condition even worse by boycotting the January 5 polls.
Nasim said, “A party can not reorganize itself unless it takes part in polls, and BNP made this mistake; no benefit to blame the leaders of the party, Khaleda herself had weakened the party’s condition.”
The senior Awami League (AL) leader came up with the remarks while addressing a discussion on Bangabandhu Avenue of the city organized by Awami Juba League to mark the 84th birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa.
The AL presidium member claimed that BNP chief Khaleda made a historic mistake.
He said, “AL participated all elections before and after the independence, you (Khaleda) had made the party’s condition even worse by not participating in the polls, and you are threatening of movement in these days, but not only the people but also the your party men do not want to waging movement.”
“Their (BNP’s) conspiracies have been failed and mistaken, no movement will be fruitful in the coming days,” Nasim added.
Presided over by Juba League (JB) chairman Omar Faruk, JB general secretary Harunur Rashid and other party leaders spoke at the function, followed by holding a milad and doa mahfil for the eternal salvation of Fazilatunnesa’s departed soul.
