DHAKA: Awami League Advisory Council member Suranjit Sengupta on Friday sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s interference to put a stop to launch capsize.
He made the observation while addressing a meeting as a chief guest at Institution of Engineers’ at Shahbagh of the city.
Suranjit said, “I believe the launch capsize will stop if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina personally watch over it.”
He also said that the wailing of the relatives of victims of Pinak-6 launch at the bank of Padma is sorrowful.
“Still the launch (Pinak-6) is missing which is failure for all of us,” he added.
He further said, “Around 1,500 people have already expired due to launch capsize till now. Driving launches that have no fitness certificates and ill trained sareng masters (helmsmen) are responsible for these sorts of accidents,” he added.
Suranjit Sengupta further said that Pinak-6 launch should be rescued soon and the government should be more careful about that.
Advisor of Bangabandhu Academy AKM Najir Miah presided over the program where other senior Awami Legue leaders also were present.
