DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Sunday issued arrest warrant against four BNP leaders including former lawmaker Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie.
Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan, magistrate of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-6, passed the order in the morning as the BNP leaders did not appear before it.
Fakhrul’s lawyer Jaynul Abedin Mejbah confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Some 46 BNP leaders including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir were accused in a case filed with Paltan Thana for creating anarchy and disturbance by picketing, filed on March this year.
Senior BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul appeared before the court during the hearing of the case when the warrant was issued.
The other accused are BNP standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman, joint secretary generals Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed and Amanullah Aman, Barkatullah Bulu
However, two more cases were also filed in this connection against other top BNP leaders.
